We had a beautiful start to the day, not a cloud in sight, perfect for the early morning ride. One of our guests was riding for the first time ever and felt every muscle when she got off 😊. Little Ozzie seems to be up at the house more and more and has been sleeping under the kumquat tree all afternoon. Archie sat in the grapevine, watching him. Sadly we had our first cloudy afternoon and the temperature dropped out of the sun but fingers crossed the sun will be back tomorrow. We attended a garden party remembrance celebration for our lovely friend Terry. It was very moving and a fitting send off, he would have loved every minute and the sun shone down in the next village in his honour ❤️. I ate one of Lily's home grown grapefruit this morning, delicious. It's never a chore getting the secret garden apart

It's never a chore getting the secret garden apartment ready for guests, the view always reminds me that we really need to have a sleepover here one day. It's been a very busy day getting 2 apartments ready for guests arriving today. Dad helped clear the leaves again and mum helped with the cleaning before reading by the pool. We had to pull more hay down with the Land rover, it's so frustrating to see all the holes in the plastic wrapping made by naughty Bella. The dining room is ready for guests having dinner tonight. Although we no longer offer meals, we will at our discretion, for favourite past guests etc. It's yet another gorgeous evening for reading by the pool before dinner, I think this is the hottest autumn I can remember, we would usually light a fire in the dining room to make it look cosy but it really isn't cold enough yet. #feelinglucky #cortijoloslobos #villanuevadeltrabuco #bluesky #autumninspain #mountainviews #secretgarden #ruralretreat #landroverdefender

This time 2 years ago we were in Croatia with our grand children Harrison and Penelope. It's been 15 months since we last saw them but they are coming out to see us next week, we can't wait 😍. 8 years ago this week, a tiny puppy Peanut was dumped at the bin by the house. He still loves cuddles, yesterday he got up on my chair and had a lovely snuggle ❤️. Talking of little things, one of the little chicks was up on the fence today, they are growing up fast. We harvested our huge walnut crop, well, they taste lovely anyway. It was our first crop since we planted the tree about 7 years ago so I'm sure we'll have more next year 😊. Last night we went to our favourite restaurant La Paloma with mum and dad for an early celebration of our 40th wedding anniversary which is on Sunday. It was a delicious meal as usual. This morning the moon looked stunning when we did the horses, photos just can't do it justice. We went to the coast today to meet Lily , Martin and Matilda for lunch. We had a walk around the market and saw these amazing dragon fruit and then a lovely walk along the beach. We are now sitting in our favourite corner on the pool patio enjoying the last of the evening sun and keeping everything crossed that this gorgeous weather will last for Harry's visit next week and our guests arriving tomorrow.
